GAME DEVELOPMENT IN ROBLOX STUDIO

WHY DOES YOUR CHILD NEED IT-SKILLS?

Performance in school

Programming knowledge helps children understand complex mathematical concepts.

Passion to learn

Digital literacy develops the child’s self-confidence and enables them to learn new things.

Independent learning skills

The knowledge that schools and universities provide can quickly become obsolete, and as such, independent learning skills are important.

WHY US?

Individual learning pace

The student can receive their individual tasks in the lesson. They can focus on their own project and work at their own pace.

Small groups

Each teacher has a maximum of 5 students in their class. Our groups form continuously and new students can join throughout the year.

Ability to create

We don’t limit our students to our curriculum: with the help of coding, they can design entire buildings, draw pictures and make mini-games.

Lots of practice

Students can work both on their own projects and in teams, picking up a variety of different subjects along the way.

HOW DOES THE TRIAL LESSON LOOK LIKE?

1 . You connect to our platform and our teacher will explain to the child the basics of working with code redactor and go through different tasks and assignments with them;

2. We determine the level of preparation and interests of the child based on how they navigate the tasks given and enroll the child in the appropriate group.

3. At the end of the trial lesson, the teacher gives you an overview of how the lesson went and helps you assess your child’s interest in the course;

STUDENTS’ WORKS

Milkshake

Dessert was programmed by Michael, 14, in Python for a quest with the theme “Sweet World”. In Python, Michael used his knowledge of variables and their parameters – their name, meaning, and the difference between global and local. To create the milkshake, Michael made a variable for the height and radius of each ring and sphere in the milkshake and changed the value of these variables using loops in Python. He also used functions in Python to create every part of this build – from the base to the glass to the scoops of ice cream.

Fairy House

Elena, 8 years old created Fairy’s House for the Fantasy quest. The house was built by a robot programmed by Elena. In this task, she had to work hard on the algorithms required by a robot – how many steps it needs to take forward, right, left, up, down, and where to place each block. Using her math knowledge, Elena calculated how many blocks were the length and width of the house (parallelepiped).

Ice Cream Cafe

A fun cafe for the Amusement Park world made by Sophia, 12. To create the roof of the cafe, Sofia used arrays in the form of lists of multi-colored blocks. Sofia also created the variables “height” and “length” and, using cycles, programmed a roof from parallelepipeds. Sophia used functions to create different parts of the house. Mathematics helped Sofia place a parallelepiped (house of trees) in a parallelogram (garden with a fence).

Sky Garden

Vlad, 10, created a sky island with a spring garden as a gift for his mom. The island is programmed using circles and the variable “height”. Using loops, the value of the variables changes depending on the shape of the jug. Using math, Vlad found the intersection points of the cone and cylinder – parts of the jug. To make the jug look like it was broken, it was necessary to find the intersection point of the cone (part of the jug) and the cylinder (island).

OUR TEACHERS

Tatiana

The most important thing to preserve in the child is the need to learn new things, the need for creativity – only this will allow the child to believe in themselves and quickly learn new skills.

Kristina

I like making lessons that will be interesting for children. But my favorite part of the lesson is when we create an amazing quest or program a castle together with the children.

Anna

I am confident that many of my students have become interested in programming and will work in the field of IT technologies in the future.

Ekaterina

I always strive to make lessons that are both fun, teach something new and help children actualize themselves.

TESTIMONIALS

My child has been in the course for 9 months. We signed him up on the recommendation of a friend and he is completely enjoying his classes. He has already learned how to code games on his own and doesn’t burn out. I even noticed that his performance at school and his grades have improved.

My daughter has been attending this programming course for 3 years and we forgot about the problems with mathematics. Previously, she struggled with geometry quite a lot, but now she has conquered it. We really liked the method of teaching geometry using Minecraft.

My son Mikhail looks forward to every lesson. Previously, he was very fond of building houses in Minecraft. But now he is constantly thinking about how to program a new version of the house. He perceives programming as a more complex version of Minecraft. At the age of 9, he knows what variables, functions, and coordinate axes are. I am very pleased with the result.

Father of Mikhail
My son and I have tried many schools and have been with Discovery School for 2 years now and are very satisfied. Each lesson is based around an interesting topic and teachers find an individual approach to each student. Son enjoys doing it.
