About course

We offer a tailored programming course for girls ages 6 to 14. In this course, girls will learn the basics of programming, digital literacy, and computer-based thinking using tools such as Minecraft Education and Roblox Studio. Girls will be organized in groups based on their interests, age, and skill level and will learn and work together, putting together various projects and applying their newfound knowledge creatively: building fun mini-games, creating beautiful houses and buildings using code, nurturing their confidence in themselves and exploring STEAM subjects in unconventional ways.

Who is this course for?

The program is aimed at girls ages 9 to 14, interested in coding, computers, or creating their own games.

Purpose of the course

The program is aimed at girls ages 9 to 14, interested in coding, computers, or creating their own games.Women remain underrepresented in STEAM. According to the National Girls Collaborative Project, women constitute only 34% of the STEM workforce. As a woman-led NGO, we want to do our part to tackle this issue. At Discovery School, we approach our foundational values from the perspective of equity. We believe that is not only important to distribute equal tools and assistance to every group, but it is also crucial to provide custom tools and solutions that tackle the inequality in opportunities. The goal of this program is to help our female student find their footing in STEAM subjects and provide them with all the resources and support they need.
